Chapter Five

Thanks to the best weekend in his life, there was an extra spring in Radek’s step when he walked into work Monday morning. A few of his muscles felt pleasantly overused, and there was no wiping the goofy smile off his face. He’d finally found a woman who could well and truly sate him—no easy feat considering his lusty appetite. That alone would have made him happy, but he knew there was something more to his joy. There was something more with Dalera.

“Somebody got lucky this weekend,” Aster announced. “Care to kiss and tell?”

Radek smirked and waited for the other man to put two and two together.

Aster’s eyes popped wide. “Oh, dear Goddess! You slept with Ms. Adorea, didn’t you?”

Although he wasn’t usually one to brag about his sexual liaisons, he didn’t bother to deny it. “Let’s just say Ms. Adorea and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend.”

“All weekend?” Aster was clearly salivating for details.

“Nonstop since Friday night,” he admitted with a chuckle.

“I just got a vicarious thrill. Was she good? Wait. No need to answer that. You wouldn’t have gone all weekend if she wasn’t. I think I’m jealous.”

“Eat your heart out,” Radek retorted, which made the Pandoran man clasp his hand over the organ in question.

That’s when he noticed the computer tablet in Aster’s hand.

“What’s that?”

“Hmm?” Aster followed his gaze. “Oh, right. A secure file came in for you ten minutes ago. It’s encrypted, so they let me sign for it.”

Radek typed in the code and transferred the file to his own unit. Once Aster wandered off, muttering something about off-worlder luck, Radek used his ID to unscramble the message. To his surprise, the text-only memo came from his home planet.

For the first time in days, his smile died. He read the letter twice to be sure he hadn’t made a mistake, but there it was, blasting him right between the eyes. There were plenty of details, but the keywords were all that mattered: job opening, transfer, and move. The location glared at him in neon.

Just when he’d found a reason to stay on this planet, the higher-ups were offering him a chance to go home. It was exactly what he’d thought he wanted. He could be near his family again, reconnect with friends, and even visit some of his old hangouts. His answer should have been obvious.

Except his reason to stay was a beautiful, fun, sexy woman he’d come to...care for. Dalera wouldn’t be on his planet, and lately she’d come to feel like home too.

Now he had a little over a month to decide if moving back was still his greatest desire. Or did his future lie somewhere else?

Working around their busy schedules, Dalera saw Radek sporadically over the next few weeks. He appeared stressed with his job, but things were always hectic near the end of the quarter. No matter how frazzled they were at the start of the evening, they ended every night making hot, wild love until they were both limp and replete.
